The B2B SaaS Sticker Shock Index

Bottom line up frontby Bill Belcamino, founder of HelpCompare
Editorial assessment

Bottom line up front: What does B2B software cost just to get started, and how should I use that number?

Getting in the door runs from $1.99/mo for Google Drive to a flat $97/mo for GoHighLevel across 18 categories, but treat each figure as a floor, not a budget.

Where a vendor headlines its annual-billing rate, that's the rate shown, and enterprise tiers and usage add-ons are left out. That detail matters more than the gap between categories. An annual plan on a tool your team hasn't adopted yet is one of the costliest mistakes in SaaS, because you pay for the full year whether people use it or not, so I'd pay the higher monthly rate until usage is real and switch to annual after that. Use the trial column the same way: Woodpecker and GoHighLevel give 14 days, so write down the one result that would make you buy before day one. ZoomInfo, Outreach and Salesloft offer no self-serve trial, so ask for a short paid pilot with a clean exit.

Every category below starts somewhere different. Some SaaS categories let you in for the price of a coffee; others assume you already have a budget line item. We pulled the cheapest publicly listed entry-level price from each of our comparisons across 18 categories (excluding tools that only quote custom pricing or charge a percentage fee) and ranked them low to high. The gap between the cheapest and most expensive category here is nearly 50x.

Key findings

  • Cloud storage is the cheapest B2B software category to enter: Google Drive starts at $1.99/mo.
  • Agency CRM software is the most expensive to enter: GoHighLevel starts at a flat $97/mo, nearly 50x the cheapest category.
  • Tools built for outbound sales or agencies start 20–50x higher than horizontal productivity tools such as storage, chat and docs.
  • Across 18 categories, the cheapest published entry price sits below $10/mo in 6 of them.

Gold bar marks the single most expensive entry price in the set. Prices are the lowest published self-serve entry price per month (or per seat per month) as of September 2026, on the billing basis each vendor headlines (the annual-billing rate where that is the published starting price); enterprise/custom quotes are not reflected.

What stands out

Cloud storage is the cheapest entry point in the index at $1.99/mo (Google Drive), and it isn’t close: the next category up, video conferencing, still starts under $5/user. The steepest jump in the whole ranking sits at the very top: Sales Intelligence & B2B Data tops out around $49/user/mo before CRM & Agency Software platforms like GoHighLevel ask for a flat $97/mo just to get started, a 2x jump with no smaller-tier option in between. In general, anything built for outbound sales or agency-scale operations (data enrichment, agency CRMs) starts 20–50x higher than horizontal productivity tools (storage, chat, docs). The market prices “sales infrastructure” as a fundamentally different tier of spend than “team productivity.”

Methodology & exclusions

Prices are the lowest self-serve monthly (or per-seat/per-mo) rate publicly listed on each tool’s pricing page at the time each underlying comparison was last updated, converted to USD where needed. We excluded two categories from the main chart: Outreach vs Salesloft (both quote-only, no published self-serve price) and Stripe vs PayPal (fees are percentage-of-transaction, not a flat subscription, so they aren’t comparable on a $/mo axis). Enterprise tiers and usage-based add-ons are not reflected, and where a vendor headlines an annual-billing rate, that is the rate shown. This index is about the price of getting in the door, not total cost of ownership. For full feature-by-feature breakdowns, see the individual comparison linked for each category below.
