What this means for your team

  • Audit reports: all publish a SOC 2 report, and Zoho Inventory also holds ISO/IEC 27001. Ask each vendor for the report under NDA before you sign; security reviews usually want the latest one.
  • Single sign-on: Zoho Inventory includes it; Sortly includes it on Enterprise. inFlow Inventory doesn’t offer single sign-on with your own identity provider. If your team signs in through Okta, Microsoft Entra ID or Google, price the plan that includes SSO, not the entry plan.
  • Working offline: Sortly works offline only in part; inFlow Inventory needs an internet connection; Zoho Inventory doesn’t document an offline mode. Details are in the Offline mode row above.
  • Where your data lives: Zoho Inventory lets you choose US, EU, India, Australia, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Singapore, China. This matters for teams hiring across the EU, UK or Australia.
  • In the office: Zoho Inventory: The Windows app supports barcode scanners and RFID, weighing-scale integration and terminal payments; mobile apps scan barcodes with the phone. Sortly: Phones scan barcodes/QR codes in the app on all plans; third-party barcode scanner support and barcode label creation start on Ultra. inFlow Inventory: inFlow sells a Smartphone Scanner (Android phone with built-in laser scanner) and a Portable thermal label Printer; new customers get a one-time hardware credit.

Zoho Inventory: worth knowing

  • SecurityZoho Inventory users can be restricted by location or reporting tag, so staff at one warehouse only see that warehouse's data. source
  • OfficeThe Windows app lets warehouse staff scan items into transactions with barcode scanners or RFID and sign in with Windows Hello. source
  • RemoteFree support is available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week; US phone line runs Monday–Friday 9 AM–9 PM ET. source
  • SecurityOnly Admin-role users can start a full data backup, and a new backup can only be started every 15 days. source

Sortly: worth knowing

  • OfflineBefore going offline, run a full sync: with sync disabled the app shows inventory only as it was at that moment. source
  • SecuritySortly's own login has no two-factor authentication; 2FA is only possible through an external identity provider via SSO on the Enterprise plan. source
  • RemoteSortly data and backups are hosted on AWS in the us-west-2 (Oregon) region. source
  • SecurityActivity history (who changed what, and when) is kept for 1 month on Free, 1 year on Advanced, 3 years on Ultra and unlimited on Premium/Enterprise. source

inFlow Inventory: worth knowing

  • SecurityWhen an admin bypasses SSO with a password, all inFlow admins get an email with the user's name, IP address and geolocation. source
  • OfficeAdvanced access rights restrict team members by location and sales rep, useful for multi-warehouse teams (Mid-Size+, or $69/mo add-on on Small Business). source
  • RemoteSupport is in-house from Toronto and Lisbon by email and live chat during business hours; Mid-Size and Enterprise can book Zoom troubleshooting calls. source
  • OfflineinFlow's offline-capable On-Premise edition lost support on July 31, 2024; current apps require internet. source
