Switching from ActiveCampaign to Klaviyo

Klaviyo’s pricing page references syncing contact and activity data from other tools but does not name a dedicated ActiveCampaign importer; expect to export contacts as CSV and reconnect your store directly to Klaviyo.

Bottom line up front: How do I move my store's email from ActiveCampaign to Klaviyo?

Export contacts as CSV, connect your store straight to Klaviyo for order and browsing data, and rebuild your flows by hand, since no dedicated ActiveCampaign importer is named.

You also lose ActiveCampaign's standard CRM, and you pay more: $20/mo for 500 active profiles against $15/mo for 1,000 contacts. The part people rush is warm-up: a new sending platform starts without the sending history your old account built, so blasting your full list on day one is how a switch ends up in spam. Send your first campaigns to your most engaged customers, the ones who opened or bought recently, and widen the audience over a few weeks as opens hold up. Import only subscribers with real consent and recent activity, because on active-profile billing every dormant address you bring along costs money. If sales reps worked deals in ActiveCampaign, sort out where that pipeline goes first.

Most buyers only budget for the new subscription. This estimates the hidden labor, data-cleanup, and retraining cost of actually making the switch.

Estimate assumes: 1 hour of data-mapping/cleaning labor per 2,000 records, a blended $75/hr ops rate, tiered migration & cleaning tooling fees, and 4 hours of retraining per seat at a $45/hr fully-loaded rate.

Why teams move from ActiveCampaign to Klaviyo

    Native Shopify sync

Purchase and browsing events sync automatically.

    Revenue attribution

Built into every flow and send.

    E-commerce-specific flows

    Cart abandonment, browse abandonment, back-in-stock.

    How the migration actually works

You lose ActiveCampaign’s standard CRM and its free contact-migration service; Klaviyo has neither.

    StepWhat you do
1Export your contact listExport contacts, tags and segments as CSV from the old tool.
2Create your Klaviyo accountCreate your Klaviyo account and connect your store (Shopify or otherwise) to sync existing customer and order data.
3Rebuild flows in Klaviyo’s flow builderRecreate abandoned-cart, welcome and post-purchase flows using Klaviyo’s flow builder, tied to your synced store events.
4Rebuild automationsRecreate email sequences, triggers and automation rules by hand — these do not transfer automatically.
5Reconnect integrationsReconnect your website forms, e-commerce store or CRM sync to the new tool.
6Run a real send before cancellingSend one real campaign through the new tool and confirm deliverability before cancelling the old plan.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

ActiveCampaign’s CRM and free migration service have no Klaviyo equivalent — Klaviyo’s value is entirely in e-commerce event data, not sales-pipeline tooling.

    Before you cut over

    • Set up single sign-on in Klaviyo on Paid plans before you invite the team, so accounts are created through your identity provider rather than by hand.
    • People who rely on ActiveCampaign offline will lose that: Klaviyo doesn’t document an offline mode. Tell field and travelling staff before the switch.
    • ActiveCampaign offers a HIPAA BAA; we found none for Klaviyo. Don’t move protected health information until that is settled.

Hover or tap “source” to see the exact wording we relied on. “Not published” means we could not find the vendor saying it on its own site; it doesn’t mean the feature is missing. Frequently Asked Questions

    Does Klaviyo import ActiveCampaign data?

No dedicated importer is named; export contacts as CSV and connect your store directly to Klaviyo for event data.

    Will it cost more?

Yes, $5/mo more at the entry tier, and Klaviyo bills on active profiles which can grow faster than a simple contact count.

    Do I lose CRM features?

Yes, Klaviyo has no CRM layer — keep ActiveCampaign or another CRM if you relied on it.

Do my automations and workflows carry over?

No. Automation logic, workflows and segmentation rules are specific to each platform’s builder and are rebuilt by hand in the new tool; only contact data moves via export/import.
