TIME TRACKING · MIGRATION GUIDE

Switching from Toggl Track to Harvest

Harvest has no Toggl importer; time comes across through Harvest’s CSV import. The payoff is invoicing, expenses and accounting sync built in.

Heads up: Toggl now sells Toggl Track inside its unified Toggl plans (time tracking plus planning). Prices here are the ones new customers see on toggl.com/pricing, checked September 19, 2026. Existing Toggl Track accounts keep their current plans.

Quick verdict: Export Toggl’s Detailed report, reshape it to Harvest’s 8-column time import (Date, Client, Project, Task, Notes, Hours, First name, Last name), add people and projects in Harvest first, then import as an Administrator. Get a Flex usage estimate from Harvest before you commit, because usage charges are not published.

Why teams move from Toggl Track to Harvest

    Invoicing built in

Harvest turns tracked time and expenses into invoices on every plan.

    Accounting sync

QuickBooks Online, Xero, Stripe and Gusto connect on Teams and up.

    Unlimited seats on Teams

Harvest Teams has no seat cap.

    How the migration actually works

Ask Harvest for your likely Flex usage charges at your project and client count before you move.

    StepWhat you do
1Export your Toggl dataExport the Detailed report for your full date range as CSV or Excel (paid plans). Admins can also export workspace data from Settings, then Data Export; Toggl emails a link valid for 72 hours, with data as JSON and invoices as PDF.
2Add people and projects in HarvestHarvest’s time import needs people and projects to exist first.
3Reshape the CSVMatch Harvest’s 8 columns: Date, Client, Project, Task, Notes, Hours, First name, Last name. Imports carry durations, not start and end times.
4Import timeAn Administrator imports it in Settings, then Import/Export (not available on Free).
5Connect accountingConnect QuickBooks Online or Xero, Stripe and, if you use it, Gusto.
6Recreate rates and approvalsSet billable and cost rates on Teams; approvals and SSO need Enterprise.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Toggl’s planning features (timelines, capacity) have no Harvest equivalent, and Harvest keeps approvals and SSO for Enterprise. Start and end times do not survive the CSV import.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can Harvest import Toggl data?

Only through Harvest’s generic CSV time import; there is no Toggl-specific importer.

Will Harvest cost the same as Toggl?

Both start at $9 a seat on annual billing, but Harvest adds Flex usage charges that it does not publish.

    Which Harvest plan has approvals?

Enterprise, from $14 a seat a month on annual billing plus usage.

Can I keep my old reports?

Yes, as exports. Keep the full CSV export and invoice PDFs from the old tool as your archive; historical rates and approvals do not carry over as live settings.
