Switching from HubSpot to Attio

Attio has a built-in HubSpot migration (Import2) that is free on any paid plan. Here is what it moves, what it leaves behind and the order to run it in.

Bottom line up front: How do you move a HubSpot CRM into Attio without making a mess?

The move itself is free: Attio's Import2 migration pulls companies, people, deals, custom objects, notes, tasks and files from HubSpot on any paid plan, run by a workspace admin.

It leaves call recordings behind, lists no HubSpot-specific field mapping, and your workflows and dashboards get rebuilt by hand, so take a full HubSpot export first (those download links expire after 30 days). The real work happens before the import, not after. Merge duplicates and archive contacts nobody has touched in years while they're still in HubSpot, because every junk record counts against your Attio plan's record limit and skews your first reports. Then freeze new fields for the cutover week, compare record counts for companies, people and deals against your backup, and only then cancel HubSpot at the end of its term.

Most buyers only budget for the new subscription. This estimates the hidden labor, data-cleanup, and retraining cost of actually making the switch.

Estimate assumes: 1 hour of data-mapping/cleaning labor per 2,000 records, a blended $75/hr ops rate, tiered migration & cleaning tooling fees, and 4 hours of retraining per seat at a $45/hr fully-loaded rate.

Why teams move from HubSpot to Attio

    Free migration

Attio says it does not charge for migrations started from its Migrate button using Import2.

    More free seats

Attio Free covers up to 3 seats and 50,000 records, against 2 users on HubSpot’s free CRM.

    Flexible data model

Custom objects move across, and Pro adds unlimited seats and 1,000,000 records.

    How the migration actually works

Import2 needs a paid Attio plan (Plus, Pro or Enterprise) and a workspace admin. Keep HubSpot running until you have checked the imported records.

    StepWhat you do
1Export a backup from HubSpotIn each object’s list view click Export and choose CSV, XLSX or XLS with all properties. You need export permissions, and download links expire after 30 days.
2Pick an Attio planImport2 runs on Plus ($35 a user annual, up to 10 seats), Pro ($79 annual) or Enterprise. A 14-day Pro trial is available.
3Run Migrate CRMAs a workspace admin, open Workspace settings, click Migrate CRM and choose HubSpot CRM in Import2.
4Check what movedCompare record counts for companies, people and deals, and spot-check notes, tasks and files against your HubSpot backup.
5Fill gaps by CSVImport anything missing from your HubSpot export with Attio’s CSV import (up to 100,000 rows, 100 columns, 100MB per file), matching on email for people and domain for companies.
6Rebuild automations and cancel HubSpotRecreate workflows, email connections and integrations in Attio, then cancel HubSpot at the end of its term.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Import2 does not bring call recordings. Attio’s help page lists no HubSpot-specific field mapping, so check workflows, reports and email history yourself, and plan to rebuild automations and dashboards by hand.

    Before you cut over

    • Set up single sign-on in Attio on Enterprise before you invite the team, so accounts are created through your identity provider rather than by hand.
    • People who rely on HubSpot offline will lose that: Attio doesn’t document an offline mode. Tell field and travelling staff before the switch.
    • If you restrict HubSpot to office or VPN IP addresses today, check how you will enforce the same rule in Attio; we found no IP allowlisting documented.
    • HubSpot offers a HIPAA BAA; we found none for Attio. Don’t move protected health information until that is settled.
