Switching from Notion to Microsoft OneNote

OneNote has no Notion importer. Export from Notion as PDF, HTML or Markdown and rebuild the pages you still use as OneNote notebooks.

Quick verdict: Move to OneNote when your team already pays for Microsoft 365 and does not need Notion’s databases, or when free-form notes, ink and offline notebooks matter more than structure.

Why teams move from Notion to Microsoft OneNote

    No extra bill

The OneNote app is free and OneNote on the web is in Microsoft 365 Business Basic.

    Free-form notes

Type, draw or clip anywhere on the page.

    Offline notebooks

Every version keeps a cached copy for offline use.

    How the migration actually works

Notion lets you export a page, a database or the whole workspace as PDF, HTML or Markdown (CSV for databases). OneNote has no importer for these, so the move is a rebuild.

    StepWhat you do
1Export your workspaceFrom Notion, export the workspace or the pages you need as PDF or HTML; export databases as CSV.
2Create notebooksMap top-level Notion pages to OneNote notebooks and sub-pages to sections.
3Copy the living pagesPaste the text of pages you still edit into OneNote pages.
4Attach the archiveAttach exported PDFs or files to OneNote pages for reference material.
5Replace databasesOneNote has no databases; move trackers to Excel, Lists or Planner in Microsoft 365, or keep them as tables on a page.
6Store in OneDrive or SharePointPut team notebooks where everyone can open them, then cancel Notion.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Databases, relations, rollups, filtered views and templates have no OneNote equivalent. Exported pages keep their text but not Notion’s structure.
