Switching from Notion to ClickUp

ClickUp has a native Notion importer on all plans. Databases arrive as one Folder, fields become Text custom fields and pages become Docs; comments, attachments and buttons inside inline databases do not come across.

Quick verdict: Move to ClickUp if your Notion databases have turned into a task tracker and you need statuses, time tracking, sprints or Gantt that Notion does not have.

Switching Cost & Friction Estimator

Most buyers only budget for the new subscription. This estimates the hidden labor, data-cleanup, and retraining cost of actually making the switch.

Estimate assumes: 1 hour of data-mapping/cleaning labor per 2,000 records, a blended $75/hr ops rate, tiered migration & cleaning tooling fees, and 4 hours of retraining per seat at a $45/hr fully-loaded rate.

Why teams move from Notion to ClickUp

    Native importer

Unlimited Notion imports on every ClickUp plan.

    Lower per-seat price

    $7 against $10 a month, both yearly.

    Real task tracking

Time tracking, sprints, Gantt and dashboards built in.

    How the migration actually works

Inline database comments, attachments and button fields do not import; Notion fields arrive as Text custom fields you retype; ClickUp’s AI is a paid add-on.

    StepWhat you do
1Export from NotionOpen the database page, click the three-dot menu, Export, and choose Markdown and CSV; full-page databases export as CSV with a Markdown file per subpage.
2Set up your ClickUp WorkspaceCreate the Workspace and the Space that will hold the imported Folder; Free Forever has no member cap.
3Run the Notion importerWorkspace settings, Import / Export, Import from apps, Notion. Databases land in one Folder, fields become Text custom fields and pages become Docs.
4Rebuild fields and workflowsConvert the imported Text custom fields to proper types, recreate statuses and automations, and reattach anything the importer skipped (inline comments, attachments, buttons).
5Reset sharing and permissionsRe-invite your team and set workspace, base or sheet-level permissions; none of this carries over.
6Cancel the old planOnce your team is working day-to-day in the new tool, cancel the old subscription.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Everything imports except inline database comments, attachments and button fields, and every Notion field becomes a Text custom field until you convert it.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Does ClickUp import Notion?

Yes, natively, on all plans: Workspace settings, Import / Export, Notion. Databases become a Folder and pages become Docs.

    What does not import?

Comments, attachments and button fields inside inline databases. Fields import as Text custom fields.

    Will it cost less?

At list price, yes: ClickUp Unlimited is $7/user/mo against Notion Plus at $10/member/mo, both yearly.

Do links, formulas and views survive the move?

Expect to rebuild them. CSV carries rows and columns; links between tables, formulas, automations, views and permissions are recreated in the new tool by hand.
