Bottom line up front: What's really involved in moving from Box to Google Workspace?

Two projects, not one: moving files out of Box into Drive, and, if you want Gmail on your domain, a separate email cutover with its own DNS and MX-record changes.

Seats go from $5/user/mo to $7/user/mo, both annual, and storage drops from 100 GB per user to 30 GB per person, so check your heaviest users before you commit, and Box Sign has no Workspace Starter equivalent. On the email side, the classic mistake is flipping MX records with no plan for the gap. Lower the DNS record's TTL a day or two ahead so the change spreads fast, switch at a quiet time, and keep the old mailbox reachable for a while so late messages aren't lost. Move files first and email second, and never on the same weekend.

    Google Workspace Business Starter does not bundle e-signature; Box Sign has no direct Workspace equivalent at this tier.

    Do I need to move email too?

    Only if you also want Gmail on your domain — that is a separate DNS/MX-record project, not required just to move files.

    Box Sign has no bundled Workspace Starter equivalent; keep a separate e-signature tool if you need one.

    Do shared links and permissions carry over?

    No. Sharing links, folder permissions and collaborator lists are specific to each platform and are rebuilt by hand as you recreate the folder structure in the new tool.
