Bottom line up front: Can I move my Smartsheet project plans into Airtable without breaking the schedule?

The data moves easily through Airtable's native Smartsheet importer, but the schedule logic doesn't: predecessors arrive as plain columns, and workload and portfolio views have no direct Airtable equivalent.

Airtable Team is $20 a seat against Smartsheet Pro's $9, though viewers and commenters are free, and Team caps a base at 50,000 records. When dependencies become plain columns, a slipped task no longer pushes the tasks behind it, so dates look fine while the plan is quietly wrong. That's why I'd switch between project phases, never in the middle of a critical stretch. Before you export from Smartsheet, save a snapshot of the current Gantt as your baseline, then rebuild the dependencies in Airtable and compare the dates against it. If your work lives and dies on dependencies, stay on Smartsheet.

    • Set up single sign-on in Airtable on Business before you invite the team, so accounts are created through your identity provider rather than by hand.
    • People who rely on Smartsheet offline will lose that: Airtable needs a connection. Tell field and travelling staff before the switch.

    Will it cost more?

    Per editor, yes: Team is $20/seat/mo against Pro at $9/Member/mo. Airtable does not bill viewers or commenters, which narrows the gap for read-heavy teams.

    Do Gantt dependencies survive?

    No. Airtable has Gantt and timeline views but Smartsheet predecessors arrive as plain columns; recreate the dependencies in Airtable.

    Do links, formulas and views survive the move?

    Expect to rebuild them. CSV carries rows and columns; links between tables, formulas, automations, views and permissions are recreated in the new tool by hand.
