Bottom line up front: Is it worth moving a team from ChatGPT to Perplexity?

Don't switch if your team relies on image generation or custom GPTs with actions, because this guide documents no Perplexity Project equivalent for either.

The team bill also goes up: Enterprise Pro is $400 a seat a year or $40 a month, against ChatGPT Business at $20 a seat a month on annual billing, and Perplexity offers no self-serve trial of its Enterprise plans. What you get is a cited source on every answer, SSO on Enterprise Pro and a published limit of 400 Pro Searches a week per seat. Before you call sales, put your heaviest research users on individual Pro accounts at $20 a month for a few weeks and see whether they actually stop opening ChatGPT, because habits tell you more than a demo will. If they do, plan the exit early: a personal-plan export can take up to 7 days to arrive, its link expires after 24 hours, and Business members need the workspace owner to pull theirs.

    Before you cut over

    • Set up single sign-on in Perplexity on Enterprise Pro before you invite the team, so accounts are created through your identity provider rather than by hand.
    • If you restrict ChatGPT to office or VPN IP addresses today, check how you will enforce the same rule in Perplexity; we found no IP allowlisting documented.
    • ChatGPT offers a HIPAA BAA; we found none for Perplexity. Don’t move protected health information until that is settled.
