Switching from 1Password to LastPass

LastPass imports 1Password’s CSV export through its web vault importer. Only login and password items come across in CSV.

Quick verdict: Export each 1Password vault to CSV, import it in the LastPass web vault under Advanced options, then Import, choosing 1Password, and recreate shared vaults as shared folders. Import in batches: LastPass warns that imports of 200 or more items at once may fail. Review the incident history in our comparison before you commit.

Estimate assumes: 1 hour of data-mapping/cleaning labor per 2,000 records, a blended $75/hr ops rate, tiered migration & cleaning tooling fees, and 4 hours of retraining per seat at a $45/hr fully-loaded rate.

    How the migration actually works

1Password’s CSV export covers logins and passwords only; other item types must be moved by hand.

    StepWhat you do
1Export from 1PasswordIn the 1Password desktop app, export each vault to 1PUX (all item types) or CSV (logins and passwords only). Exports are unencrypted: store the file safely and delete it after the import.
2Set up LastPassChoose Teams (up to 50 users) or Business, and configure federated login and SCIM on Business.
3Import in batchesIn the web vault, open Advanced options, then Import, choose 1Password and upload the CSV; keep batches under 200 items.
4Rebuild shared foldersRecreate shared vaults as shared folders with permissions.
5Move other items by handCustom item types and custom fields are not supported by the importer.
6Delete the export fileUnencrypted exports contain every password in plain text. Delete the file securely once the import is verified.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Only logins and passwords move through CSV; custom item types, custom fields, passkeys and attachments need manual handling.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can LastPass import from 1Password?

Yes, from a 1Password CSV export through the web vault importer. Imports of 200 or more items at once may fail.

    What won’t import?

Custom item types, custom fields, passkeys and attachments.

    Is LastPass cheaper?

Per user, yes: $7 on Business against $8.99 on 1Password Business (annual billing).

Do I need to change my passwords after switching?

Moving vaults does not require it, but it is a good moment to rotate shared and high-risk credentials and to run the new tool’s breach and weak-password report.
