ChatGPT Business is $20 a Standard seat a month on annual billing with a 2-seat minimum, while Perplexity Enterprise Pro is $400 a seat a year or $40 monthly, and plans and limits in this category change often. A citation is only worth something if someone clicks it. AI answers can point to a real page that doesn't say what the answer claims, so what Perplexity buys you is checking that takes seconds, not checking you can skip. Run a week of your team's real questions through both free plans, and have someone open every cited link on the answers you'd actually act on. If the sources hold up and your people use them, pay for Perplexity; if nobody opens them, you're paying extra for a feature nobody reads.

Both answer questions in plain language. Perplexity leads with live web search and cites a source in every answer; ChatGPT is a general assistant that also searches the web, and adds image generation, custom GPTs and a coding agent.
Team pricing
ChatGPT Business is $20 a Standard seat a month on annual billing, with a two-seat minimum and a 200-seat cap. Perplexity sells Enterprise Pro at $40 a seat a month or $400 a year, and Enterprise Max at $325 a month or $3,250 a year; Pro and Max seats are counted separately, so you can mix them. Perplexity says it does not offer self-serve trials of either Enterprise plan.
Limits you can read
Perplexity publishes seat limits for its Enterprise plans: 400 Pro Searches a week and 50 Research queries a month on Enterprise Pro, 4,000 and 500 on Enterprise Max. OpenAI describes ChatGPT Business limits in 5-hour windows rather than message counts.
Admin and security
Perplexity’s Enterprise page lists SOC 2 Type II, SSO and SCIM, audit logs and configurable file retention, and says it never trains on enterprise customers’ data. SCIM, audit logs and data retention switch on for the whole organization once it has at least one Enterprise Max seat. ChatGPT Business includes SAML SSO; SCIM is Enterprise-only.
Moving between them
Neither documents an import of the other’s chat history. On Perplexity you can export any answer as PDF, Markdown or DOCX; on a personal ChatGPT plan you can export your history from Settings. Reusable context (instructions and reference files) moves by hand: custom GPTs become Perplexity Projects and the reverse.

Audit reports: both publish a SOC 2 report, and ChatGPT also holds ISO/IEC 27001. Ask each vendor for the report under NDA before you sign; security reviews usually want the latest one.
Single sign-on: Perplexity includes it on Enterprise Pro; ChatGPT includes it on Business. If your team signs in through Okta, Microsoft Entra ID or Google, price the plan that includes SSO, not the entry plan.
Health data: ChatGPT will sign a HIPAA business associate agreement (ChatGPT: Enterprise). We found no BAA offer for Perplexity, so keep protected health information out of it.

Office-only access: ChatGPT can restrict sign-ins to approved IP ranges on Enterprise. That suits an office network or a company VPN; fully remote teams need a VPN for it to work.
Where your data lives: ChatGPT lets you choose US, EU, UK, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, India, Australia, UAE on Enterprise. This matters for teams hiring across the EU, UK or Australia.
