Canva is template-first content creation for marketing and everyone else. Figma is a professional interface and product design platform priced by seat type, with free viewers and cheap collaboration seats.
They do different jobs. Canva ($20.83 a person a month on Business, annual) is for marketing content from templates, so anyone can make it. Figma ($16 a month for a Full seat, annual) is for designing products, apps and websites, with free viewers, $3 collaboration seats and developer handoff. Many teams pay for both.
Heads up: AI features, allowances and prices on design tools change often; figures here are as published on September 19, 2026.

Editorial assessmentBoth are browser-based, collaborative in real time and full of AI features. Canva starts from a finished template; Figma starts from a blank frame and a component library.
Canva charges every Business member the same per-person price. Figma charges by seat type: Full seats for designers, Dev seats for developers, Collab seats for people who only use FigJam, Slides and Buzz, and free access for viewers and commenters.
Figma Slides and Figma Buzz (brand templates for marketing teams) move Figma toward Canva’s territory, and Canva Code moves Canva toward simple interactive builds. For day-to-day social content Canva is still the more complete library; for anything a developer will build, Figma is the standard.
Canva points to a free “Figma to Canva” app, built by a third-party developer, that turns Figma frames into editable Canva designs; complex elements may come in as images. Figma has no Canva importer, but it imports PowerPoint files into Figma Slides and PNG or JPG images.
Standard list prices checked September 19, 2026. Figma prices are per seat type: pick Collab for people who only use FigJam, Slides or Buzz; viewers are free. Canva Business sells up to 100 seats online. AI add-ons and taxes are not included.
