LastPass is cheaper per user ($4.25 to $11 a month on annual billing) and has 100+ policies on Business; 1Password costs $8.99 a user on Business and has a flat-price pack for 10 users. Weigh LastPass’s two 2022 incidents, which its own notices describe, alongside price.

Quick verdict: On list price LastPass is cheaper: Teams is $4.25 a user a month (up to 50 users) and Business $7 on annual billing, against $8.99 for 1Password Business. Both include SSO-based login, SCIM and free family accounts on their Business plans, and both let admins recover locked-out accounts. 1Password’s Teams Starter Pack ($24.95 a month for 10 users, annual) undercuts LastPass Teams at exactly 10 users. The factor price does not capture is history: LastPass’s own notices describe two incidents in 2022: an attacker took source code and internal secrets, then accessed cloud backups that included backups of customer vault data. Feature for feature, the business plans are close: shared vaults or folders, SSO-based login, SCIM, admin recovery and family accounts for staff. The differences are price, where the small-team cut-offs sit, and trust.

Small teams

1Password’s Teams Starter Pack is a flat $24.95 a month for up to 10 users on annual billing, with up to 10 more seats at $4.99 each according to its pricing page; it has no SSO or SCIM. LastPass Teams is $4.25 a user for up to 50 users, with 25 security policies and no federated login.

LastPass’s own notices describe two incidents in 2022: an attacker took source code and internal secrets, then accessed cloud backups that included backups of customer vault data. LastPass says sensitive vault fields were encrypted, while other data, such as website URLs, was not.

  • Audit reports: both publish a SOC 2 report, and 1Password and LastPass also hold ISO/IEC 27001. Ask each vendor for the report under NDA before you sign; security reviews usually want the latest one.
  • Single sign-on: 1Password includes it on Business; LastPass includes it on Business. If your team signs in through Okta, Microsoft Entra ID or Google, price the plan that includes SSO, not the entry plan.
