Switching from Buffer to Hootsuite

Teams move from Buffer to Hootsuite when they need an inbox, listening or ads. Buffer does not document an export of scheduled posts, so plan to copy the queue.

Quick verdict: Copy Buffer’s scheduled queue into a CSV (Buffer documents no queue export), export the analytics you want to keep, reconnect profiles in Hootsuite and upload posts with Bulk Composer (up to 350 per CSV on paid plans, not during the trial). Budget per user: from $99 a month on annual billing.

    Inbox, listening and ads

    Included on every Hootsuite plan.

    Unlimited accounts

Professional ($199 a user, annual) and up.

    Bulk Composer

Upload up to 350 posts per CSV.

    How the migration actually works

Count users, not channels: Hootsuite charges per user.

    StepWhat you do
1Export your Buffer analyticsBuffer documents analytics exports only (CSV, PDF, image or Markdown from Insights; Analyze retires October 7, 2026). There is no documented export of scheduled posts, so copy your queue before you cancel.
    2Choose a Hootsuite planStandard ($99 a user, 10 accounts), Professional ($199, unlimited) or Advanced ($399, approvals).
3Reconnect each social profileConnect every network account to the new tool and re-authorise it; tokens do not transfer between vendors.
4Upload posts with Bulk ComposerPut future posts in Hootsuite’s CSV format and upload after the trial (bulk scheduling is not available during the trial).
5Set up the inbox and permissionsConfigure the unified inbox, saved replies and user permissions.
6Cancel BufferBuffer bills monthly or annually with no contract.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Buffer documents no export of scheduled posts, and neither tool imports from the other. Buffer’s Start Page and Google Business Profile posting need checking in Hootsuite.
