Switching from Backblaze to IDrive

IDrive cannot import Backblaze backups, so switching means installing IDrive, running a fresh first backup and keeping Backblaze until it finishes.

Quick verdict: Size your IDrive plan by computers and storage (Team for small groups, Business if you back up servers), install IDrive on each device, let the first backup complete, test a restore, then cancel Backblaze. Restore anything you need from Backblaze’s version history first.

Why teams move from Backblaze to IDrive

    Servers and NAS

IDrive Business includes server backup, and IDrive supports Linux and NAS devices.

    SaaS backup

Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup as an add-on.

    Bundled pricing

Team is $9.99 a month for 5 computers and 5 TB on annual billing.

    How the migration actually works

Check your data size first: IDrive Team includes 5 TB per 5 computers and charges $0.50 per GB per month over that.

    StepWhat you do
1Take stockList every computer, server and NAS you back up and how much data each holds, so you can pick the right plan and storage.
2Choose an IDrive planPick a Team bundle that covers your computer count and storage, or Business if you back up servers; add users and groups in the dashboard.
3Install IDrive on each deviceInstall the IDrive app on each computer or server and set the encryption type (default or private key) at setup.
4Run the first backupThe first backup of each computer uploads everything again and can take days on a slow connection; schedule it before you cancel the old plan.
5Test a restoreRestore a few files and one full folder from the new service to confirm it works.
6Keep the old service runningDo not cancel until the new service has completed a full first backup of every computer and you have tested a restore. Backblaze restores by browser download (zip files up to 500 GB per request), the Restore app, or a USB drive of up to 8 TB for $279, refunded if returned within 30 days.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Backblaze’s version history does not move. IDrive plans have storage caps that Backblaze did not; data-heavy computers can push you into a larger bundle.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can IDrive import my Backblaze backups?

No. Install IDrive and run a new first backup.

    Will IDrive cost less?

For 5 computers with under 5 TB in total, yes: $9.99 a month on annual billing against $41.25 on Backblaze. Data-heavy teams may need a larger bundle.

    Does IDrive keep deleted files?

Yes, until you remove them manually or with Archive Cleanup.

Will my version history move with me?

No. Backup services do not import each other’s history. Keep the old account until you no longer need its older versions, or restore anything you must keep before cancelling.
