Bottom line up front: Which OneDrive plan should a small business pay for?

Microsoft 365 Business Basic at $7/user/mo on yearly billing, with 1 TB each, even though Family covers up to 6 people with 1 TB each for $12.99/mo.

Microsoft 365 Basic at $1.99/mo gets one person 100 GB, and Personal is $9.99/mo or $99.99/yr with the desktop Office apps, but those are consumer plans that belong to one person. That's the trap. When company files live in an employee's own account, they leave when the employee does, and the business has no control over who can still open them. Pay for business seats so the company owns the accounts, then set one rule on day one: work files go in shared team folders, never in one person's private space.
