Switching from Shopify POS to Clover

Clover has no Shopify importer; items go in through Clover’s spreadsheet import. Most moves this way are restaurants or counters that need Clover’s bundled hardware.

Quick verdict: Export Shopify products and customers, reshape the products into Clover’s item spreadsheet template and import from the web dashboard. Before signing, get Clover’s contract length, hardware payments and termination fees in writing, and decide whether Shopify stays as your online store.

    How the migration actually works

Clover hardware locks you to Clover processing: be sure before you commit to a 36-month hardware subscription.

    StepWhat you do
1Export your Shopify products and customersIn Shopify admin, export products to CSV (emailed if the catalogue is large or any product has over 100 variants) and export customers to CSV.
2Choose a Clover bundlePick Essentials, Retail Growth or Restaurant Growth, and confirm contract terms in writing.
3Import itemsFill Clover’s item spreadsheet template with your Shopify products and import it from the web dashboard.
4Load customersRe-create or import your customer list.
5Decide on your online storeKeep Shopify for online sales, or use Clover’s online store on Retail Growth.
6Remove POS Pro at renewalAnnual POS Pro cannot be downgraded until the cycle ends.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Clover documents no Shopify importer, and variants need reshaping by hand. Omnichannel features (ship to home, pickup at any location) need rebuilding or dropping.

    Before you cut over

    • You have single sign-on in Shopify POS but we found none documented for Clover. Plan how people will sign in, and how you will remove leavers, before cut-over.

Hover or tap “source” to see the exact wording we relied on. “Not published” means we could not find the vendor saying it on its own site — it doesn’t mean the feature is missing. Frequently Asked Questions

Can Clover import my Shopify products?

Not directly. Put them into Clover’s item spreadsheet template and import from the web dashboard.

Can I keep Shopify for online sales?

Yes. Many businesses keep Shopify online and use a separate POS in store, though inventory will not sync by itself.

What contract will I sign with Clover?

Clover hardware subscriptions run 36 months and are non-cancelable; termination fees vary by provider.

    Will my sales history move?

Not as live records. Download sales reports from the old system for your accounting and tax records before you close the account; the imports cover items and customers.
