INVENTORY MANAGEMENT · MIGRATION GUIDE

Switching from Sortly to Zoho Inventory

Zoho Inventory has no Sortly importer, but its CSV import maps fields automatically. Moving adds orders, purchasing and selling-channel sync.

Quick verdict: Export Sortly’s inventory summary as CSV or Excel, then import items with opening stock into Zoho module by module, and connect your online stores and accounting. Most teams make this move when they start selling products and need orders.

    Lower price for 3 users

Standard is $29 a month on annual billing.

    How the migration actually works

Sortly folders do not map to Zoho warehouses automatically; decide how folders become locations or item groups before importing.

    StepWhat you do
1Clean up the item listArchive discontinued items and agree on SKUs and units before exporting, so you import only what you still stock.
2Export from SortlyIn Reports, open Inventory Summary and export CSV or Excel with all items and fields (images come as URLs; use the Dropbox export for the image files).
3Import into Zoho InventoryImport module by module with Zoho’s sample files and field mapping: contacts and vendors first, then items with opening stock, then warehouses and transactions.
4Count and reconcileRun a stock count in the new tool, compare totals with the old one, and fix differences before you switch off the old tool.
5Reconnect sales channelsConnect your online stores and accounting in the new tool, and disconnect them from the old one so stock is not updated twice.
6Train the team and cut overPick a quiet day, freeze changes in the old tool, import final stock levels, and have everyone scan in the new app from then on.

What this path doesn’t do for you:

Item photos come across as URLs in Sortly’s CSV; re-attach images in Zoho. Sortly custom fields need matching custom fields in Zoho first.

    Before you cut over

    • Set up single sign-on in Zoho Inventory before you invite the team, so accounts are created through your identity provider rather than by hand.
    • People who rely on Sortly offline will lose that: Zoho Inventory doesn’t document an offline mode. Tell field and travelling staff before the switch.
