    "method": "Every outside link in published content and every source URL in the tools.json and ai-pricing.json datasets is requested each month. A link counts as dead only after two different requests both get 404/410 or no DNS. Sites that block automated requests get a slow second pass and are then opened by hand in a browser; any not yet opened are counted as manual_check.",
